Overview

The Electrical Engineering (EE) Program was established in 2008 as one of the major departments of the Engineering College, Najran University, which actively engaged in teaching diverse fields of EE. The program is offered at the new University campus (named as University City) in Najran, Saudi Arabia. The curriculum of the program focuses on Power, Control, Electronics, and Communication Engineering. The Bachelor of EE program is offered for male students only and limited to the undergraduate level for the time being. The first batch graduated in 2013.

Mission

To provide the students a conducive environment for academic learning that produces qualified electrical engineers to adequately
meet the national requirements, and address the community challenges through research, and advanced technologies.

Program Educational Objectives

The following are the learning objectives for the Electrical Engineering program:

  1. Their technical competition in the field of electrical engineering and their ability to visualize, design, and implement a wide range of electrical engineering tasks locally and globally.

  2. Meeting the industry’s expectations in Electrical Engineering with excellent communication and leadership skills.

  3. Contributing to the community by providing innovative solutions to electrical engineering problems and working in multidisciplinary teams.

  4. Following professional development in Electrical Engineering through self-learning and advanced postgraduate studies if qualified and interested.

  5. Maintaining professional and social ethics necessary in fulfilling their responsibilities towards God, clients, the community, and contributing to the sustainable development of the Kingdom..

Students Outcomes

The students of the EE program are expected to achieve the following by the time of graduation for a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering :

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.

  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.

  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to conclude.

  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

Student Admissions

Applicants wishing to be admitted to the Electrical Engineering Department at Najran University must meet the following conditions:

  1. Students are accepted into the preparatory year for engineering at the university based on the number of available seats and the admission rate. The admission rate consists of 30% of secondary school grades, 30% from the ability test, and 40% from the achievement test.
  2. The student must have a high school diploma or its equivalent from within the Kingdom or abroad.
  3. They must not be older than two academic years since obtaining it or its equivalent.
  4. The student must have good conduct and behavior.
  5. The student must successfully pass any exam or interview (if available).
  6. The student must be medically fit.
  7. The student must obtain the approval of their employer for continuing their studies if they work in any government or private institution.
  8. The student must not have been dismissed from Najran University or any other university for academic or disciplinary reasons.
  9. If, after accepting a student, it is found that they were previously dismissed for disciplinary or academic reasons, their acceptance is voided.
  10. The student who meets the conditions must submit the documents specified by the Admissions and Registration Office at the University.
  11. The student must not be registered to obtain another degree in the same university or another university, and they must not have obtained it previously.
  12. Student files of students who are late for entrance exams (if any) are excluded.
  13. Student files of students who are late for personal interviews (if any) and who do not provide a valid excuse are excluded.
