This section applies the fundamentals of epidemiology and scientific principles to prevent or limit hospital-acquired infection rates among healthcare workers, patients, and visitors; and is responsible for strictly adhering to antibiotic stewardship policies and wound management, ensuring compliance with evidence-based guidelines for infection prevention control policies and procedures in healthcare facilities, as well as all other departmental policies, in addition to providing the capabilities and equipment that enable healthcare providers – physicians and nurses – to maintain good practices in infection control.
