Hospital activities and achievements
The hospital worked on providing diverse services to the community as part of its mission:
1- Conducting several awareness campaigns for the community in various malls and government facilities:
a) The volunteer awareness campaign for World Diabetes Day:
In order to raise awareness of diabetes and on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the University Hospital, in partnership with the student activities committees of the College of Medicine, carried out a diabetes awareness campaign held at the College of Medicine, which began with the delivery of an introductory lecture on diabetes in the college auditorium, attended by the Dean of the College, faculty members and students , then subsequently the campaign was launched by measuring the height, weight – blood pressure – body mass index – blood sugar level of visitors, and then medical consultations were provided by Family Medicine and Community Medicine professors at the College of Medicine. Subsequently, meals were provided to the visitors. During this campaign, more than 200 people were screened and 22 cases were referred to the University Hospital for further examinations. b) Campaign: (I pledge to help in reducing colon cancer):
Coinciding with World Cancer Awareness Day, the University Hospital, in cooperation with the medical committees of the College of Medicine, carried out a campaign to raise awareness of colon cancer with the slogan: (I pledge to help in reducing colon cancer). The campaign was held in three of the largest commercial complexes in the region. The campaign was inaugurated at Royal Center by cutting the ribbon, followed by doctors and participating students conducting comprehensive blood tests for citizens and residents, followed by taking height, weight, blood pressure, body mass index, and blood sugar level and providing necessary consultations by one of the internal medicine professors at the University Hospital and College of Medicine. The campaign continued for the following two days to include Riyadh Center and Rose Plaza, where the number of beneficiaries of the awareness campaign from citizens and residents was 352 visitors, and a number of cases were referred to follow up examination procedures at the University Hospital, which included the informative aspect of distributing brochures about colon cancer. c) Campaign for World AIDS Day:
The campaign included the presentation of two lectures on raising awareness of this disease by two professors from the College of Medicine. The campaign was specialized for the female section only, and brochures about acquired immunodeficiency disease were distributed and a detailed presentation of the disease and how to mitigate the risks of the disease to the community was presented, with the presence and participation of a number of nursing and medical staff at the hospital. 2- Participating in Operation Storm of Thunder and Hope through :
أ) المشاركة ضمن خطة الطواري التي فعّلتها الشؤون الصحية بالمنطقة بالتعاون مع الجهات الصحية المختلفة عن طريق فريق طبي للطواري جاهز على مدار الساعة للمشاركة في أي خطة كوارث ، أو استضافة المرضى في التنويم بالمستشفى.
ب) فتح ملفات ومعالجة المشاركين في القوات العسكرية المرابطة على الحد الجنوبي. فبعد أن وقّعت الجامعة مع القوات العسكرية المرابطة في الحدود الجنوبية شراكة تشمل استفادة الجنود المرابطين من عدد من خدمات الجامعة ومن ضمنها تقديم كل الخدمات العلاجية من قبل المستشفى الجامعي ، وبعد أن تم إعلان الشراكة ابتدأ المستشفى في استقبال طلب فتح الملفات من قبل القطاعات للجنود المرابطين على الحد
3 - إقامة حملة للتبرع بالدم بالمدينة الجامعة :
سعياً للمشاركة المجتمعية الإنسانية والمساهمة في تجويد كل الخدمات الصحية المقدمة بما يعود في آخر الأمر بالنفع والفائدة لمتلقي الخدمة الصحية في المنطقة و تتويجاً للتعاون البناء والمثمر ما بين الخدمات الصحية بالجامعة والمديرية العامة للشؤون الصحية بنجران ،قام المستشفى بالتنسيق مع الشؤون الصحية في المنطقة ممثلة في المختبر الإقليمي بالمنطقة بحملة للتبرع بالدم داخل المدينة الجامعية لدعم بنوك الدم بالمنطقة ، وتم تدشين الحملة من قبل وكيل الجامعة للشؤون التعليمية والمشرف العام على المستشفى الجامعي د.جبران بن مرعي القحطاني في أحد كليات الجامعة وكان الإقبال على التبرع من الطلاب والمنسوبين خلال يومين عاليا حتى وصل عدد المتبرعين 150 متبرعا حتى أعلن المختبر الإقليمي الاكتفاء بالكامل.
يذكر أن الحملة شارك في تنظيمها 50 طالباً من الجامعة وباشرها 8 أطباء وفنيين من المستشفى الجامعي إلى جانب عدد من الفنيين من منسوبي وزارة الصحة.
4 - يقدم المستشفى خبرته في التشغيل لكل الراغبين في استنساخ هذه التجربة ، حيث شَرُف المستشفى بزيارة عدة وفود من عدد من الجامعات للاطلاع على تجربة الجامعة في قدرتها على وجود مستشفى بين جنباتها يقدم خدمته لمنسوبيها كرابع جامعة من بين كل جامعات الممكلة تتمكن من تحقيق هذا الإنجاز .
The First Health Forum
Najran University hosted the first scientific symposium through the health colleges and the university hospital, with the participation of academics and specialists in the health field via several sessions and workshops on July 19, 1440 AH
The goal of such symposiums is to promote health awareness and develop social responsibility. The hospital and the health colleges contributed to the organizational, coordination, and implementation aspects of the symposium, in addition to a blood donation campaign and several awareness exhibitions.
حملة التطعيم ضد الانفلونزا الموسمية :
في سبيل سعي المستشفى للمساهمة في الحفاظ على صحة وسلامة المجتمع، وتعزيز الوعي الصحي أطلق معالي مدير الجامعة، الأستاذ الدكتور فلاح السبيعي، حملة التطعيم ضد الإنفلونزا الموسمية التي ينفذها المستشفى الجامعي.
وتهدف الحملة إلى تقليص الإصابة بالانفلونزا بنسبة تفوق 60%، كما أن التطعيم يقلل احتمالية دخول المستشفى للمصابين بنسبة 80% .
والحملة تأتي في إطار الجهود التي يقوم بها المستشفى للمساهمة في الحفاظ على صحة وسلامة المجتمع، وتعزيز الوعي الصحي، ورفع نسبة التغطية باللقاح، والحث على اتباع السلوكيات السليمة وأنماط الغذاء الصحي.
وقد تم تنفيذ الحملة في عدة أماكن بالجامعة ولمدة 3 أيام تجاوز عدد المتلقين للقاح الأربعمائة شخص.
كما أن الحملة في شق الطالبات تمت برعاية سعادة وكيلة الجامعة لشطر الطالبات د.منى آل سيف .
World AIDS Day Campaign:
The Nursing Administration at the Hospital held an awareness campaign for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) coinciding with World AIDS Awareness Day. The campaign included a presentation by one of the faculty members from the College of Medicine, and it was specifically focused on the Women’s Section. Brochures about AIDS and a detailed overview of the disease and how to mitigate risks in society were distributed, attended by and involving several medical staff from the hospital.
Influenza Vaccination Campaign
في سبيل سعي المستشفى للمساهمة في الحفاظ على صحة وسلامة المجتمع، وتعزيز الوعي الصحي أطلق معالي رئيس الجامعة، حملة التطعيم ضد الإنفلونزا الموسمية التي ينفذها المستشفى الجامعي.
وتهدف الحملة إلى تقليص الإصابة بالانفلونزا بنسبة تفوق 60%، كما أن التطعيم يقلل احتمالية دخول المستشفى للمصابين بنسبة 80% ، والحملة تأتي في إطار الجهود التي يقوم بها المستشفى للمساهمة في الحفاظ على صحة وسلامة المجتمع، وتعزيز الوعي الصحي، ورفع نسبة التغطية باللقاح، والحث على اتباع السلوكيات السليمة وأنماط الغذاء الصحي ، وقد تم تنفيذ الحملة في عدة أماكن بالجامعة ولمدة 3 أيام ، شملت فرع الجامعة بشرورة ،والمجمع التعليمي بالمدينة الجامعية.
Establishment and operation of the Family and Community Medicine Department at the Hospital:
In accordance with modern standards in patient care pathways followed worldwide, and in an effort to make the first point of contact between the patient with a non-acute condition and the hospital the doctor who contributes to making the patient reach the specialist quickly and easily and treats their normal complaints in a scientific and easy way, a department of Family and Community Medicine was established at the hospital, which includes several Saudi consultants, and a group of specialized doctors from distinguished competencies, to occupy approximately twenty clinics weekly, which include many specializations with need: such as chronic disease clinics, cessation of smoking clinic, psychological treatment clinic and clinics for the elderly, etc. The department has raised the level of service provided to patients, seeking to make the patient's movement within the hospital fast and accurate, with a quick impact that makes the patient, whatever their complaints, reach the specialist in the fastest way, and receive the service in the appropriate manner, and the department includes five daily clinics, worked in which consultants, specialists and residents, and has contributed to increasing the number of patient visitors to outpatient clinics, and created opportunities for training students and practitioners.
Making a significant contribution to combating the coronavirus pandemic:
Contribution to fulfilling the role in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, adhering to the excellent and wonderful image that our dear kingdom has achieved in dealing with the coronavirus crisis, until it became an example worldwide and an honorable international image, the university contributed through its participation in the committees that were formed to achieve the optimal handling of the pandemic. The hospital was a basic pillar through strategic plans that were prepared and implemented for all suspected and confirmed cases: testing, vaccination, isolation, treatment, and procedures, along with the quarantine center that was prepared and equipped to receive cases that require according to the followed plans, the hospital conducted approximately five hundred tests, confirming the infection of two hundred cases, and approximately seventy patients were admitted to the hospital and received full appropriate care until their recovery and discharge, and the result of these efforts was that about forty practitioners were infected. Thanks to God and gratitude, there were no deaths from among these numbers, and those efforts yielded a letter of thanks received by the university from His Excellency, the Minister of Education, on the efforts made and the achievements achieved, and His Excellency, the President of the University, met with the most prominent contributing teams, and took a commemorative photo with them.
Vaccination centers against coronavirus are launched at the University Hospital :
Contributing to the wonderful efforts undertaken by our beloved homeland to provide and secure the vaccine against Coronavirus for all who wish to receive it, citizens or residents. His Excellency the President of Najran University launched a Coronavirus vaccine center “COVID-19” at the University Hospital on 18/7/1442 AH, which is one of three centers within Najran University, where the President of the University received his first dose at the hospital. The center was prepared so that the recipient of the vaccines has a smooth journey beginning with registration and thermal screening, then verification of no contraindications for him to receive the vaccine, followed by electronic recording of his data, and after receiving the vaccine, he spends a brief period in the relaxation area before he can leave within a mechanism that does not exceed 10 minutes. The vaccine centers at the University Hospital, clinics of faculty members in the University City, as well as the center of the Faculty of Science and Humanities in Shururah, have been established. The University Hospital vaccine center in Najran University has played a fundamental role in increasing the number of vaccinated people in the region. The vaccine center was able to provide more than 10,000 doses during the past period, with more than 4,000 doses provided during the first weeks of the return to studies at a rate of 650 doses per day. The service included University students, employees, public school students, citizens, and residents in the region. In addition, the center was intensified during weekends and with high numbers of beneficiaries, yet the center was able to implement precautionary measures with high professionalism, with the center increasing screening points in front of the entrance and applying social distancing in corridors and waiting areas, in addition to the flexibility in dealing with beneficiaries and providing health care for those who require it after receiving the dose. The interaction of the University vaccine centers to receive all complaints was distinctive and fast, which reflects continuous monitoring and ongoing communication with vaccine recipients in order to develop the level of service provided.
تأسيس وتشغيل وحدة المناظير بالمستشفى :
حيث أن كلية الطب بالجامعة تسنمت لها الفرصة في وجود طواقم مميزة، ذوي تخصصات نادرة وذات احتياج عالي، وتلقوا تدريب وتأهيل في أرقى المراكز الطبية في العالم ، ومع عودة اثنين من الاستشاريين السعوديين الذين تلقوا تدريب في اختصاص المناظير والجهاز الهضمي للبالغين والأطفال ، واستغلالا لوجود جهاز مناظير مجهز بالمستشفى، فقد تم تدشين وحدة المناظير بالمستشفى لتستوعب المرضى الذين يحتاجون هذا النوع من الفحص ، والوحدة تقوم بعمل الفحص والعلاج على حد سواء ، وتستوعب دخول المريض وعمل الفحوصات اللازمة وراحته أو حتى تنويمه بعد إجراء الفحص.

سعيا في تطوير الأجهزة الموجودة بالمستشفى بما يتناسب مع الاحتياجات الطبية، والتحديثات المستمرة في عالم التصوير الإشعاعي، فقد تم تركيب جهاز أشعة مقطعية حديث ، ويعد من الأجهزة النادرة في المنطقة، تحديثا وملحقات وجاهزية، وذلك بجهود مشكورة من قبل الإدارة المالية بالجامعة ، فالجهاز مهيئ لعمل الفحوصات الدقيقة، ويمكن عمل الكثير من التصاوير الإشعاعية اللازمة ، بوجود الصبغة أو من غيرها
