About the Scientific Council:

He is responsible for overseeing the scientific affairs of faculty members, research and studies, and publications. The affiliation: It is linked to the University's Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.

The Council of Scientific Inquiry is composed as follows:

1- Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research – Chairman-.

2- One faculty member from each college or institute with at least an associate professor rank, and their appointments will be decided by a decision from the University Council based on recommendations from the College or Institute Council and approval from the University Director.

And it is permissible by a decision from the University Council to admit an additional number of members from working professionals to the membership of the Council.

Tasks of the Scientific Council:

  1.  The recommendation to appoint faculty members from the university.
  •  The settlement of academic promotions for faculty members at the University in accordance with the rules issued by the Supreme Council for Education.
  •  Encourage scientific research, authorship, translation, and human resources, for which it has:
    • Establish guidelines to encourage scientific research standards.
  • Proposal to Establish Scientific Research Centers.
  • Coordination between scientific research centers and formulating a general plan for them.
  • Organization of connection with research centers outside the university.
  • Establishment of incentive and appreciation awards for scientific work, their adjudication, and authorization for disbursement.
  • Publishing research papers, authored works, and scientific theses that it deems worthy of publication.
  • Recommendation to publish scientific journals.
  • Recommendation to establish scientific societies and museums and coordinate between them.
  • Acknowledgement of all academic books and graduate dissertations submitted for review.
      •            4. Assessment of academic certificates submitted by Saudi faculty members.
                 5. Consideration of referrals from the University Council.
       

      Scientific Committee Meetings:

      The Scientific Council meets by invitation of its Chairman at least once a month, and the Chairman may call the Council to meet if necessary or if one-third of the members request it, or upon the request of the University President who has the authority to include any matter he deems appropriate on the agenda, and holds the chairmanship if present and meetings are valid only if at least three-fourths of its members attend.
