Research chairs represent one of the institutional tools that universities rely on to guide scientific research towards specific, prioritized issues, and provide sustainable funding for them, as well as building specialized research groups with accumulated expertise over years. Their importance stems from their direct linkage of academic knowledge with the needs of development sectors, transforming the provided support into measurable scientific outputs, including published research in classified publishing outlets, patents, applied solutions, and qualified national competencies.
The Research Chairs Administration at Najran University works to align the chairs' programs with the goals of Vision 2030, national priorities in research, development, and innovation, the University’s strategy and research specializations, as well as the developmental needs of the Najran region.
We have strived in the Administration to establish an integrated governance framework that regulates the entire research chair lifecycle, from the establishment study and its approval, through planning, funding, and disbursement, to evaluation of performance and impact. This framework is based on defining authorities and responsibilities, linking expenditures to achievements and rewards with outputs, measuring performance with accredited indicators, safeguarding intellectual property rights, and adhering to ethical scientific research and scientific integrity, which preserves the rights of the funding parties, the university, and researchers equally.
I am pleased to invite governmental bodies, private sector establishments, non-profit organizations, and individuals supporting science to partner with the University in establishing research chairs that address issues within their areas of interest. I also invite faculty members and researchers to submit high-quality research chair proposals in their fields of specialization. The Administration will provide procedural and technical support at all stages of work.
