About the Department
Praise be to God, who sent down His Book upon His servant and did not leave any deficiency therein, and peace and blessings be upon the Lord of the Beginning and the End, our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
After this; knowledge of Islamic law is a knowledge in which God has raised its mention among the first and last generations, and He has chosen from His servants those who serve it and manifest its matter. This is what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established since its inception; it took into consideration that it made it the source of its legislation and a lifeline, thus establishing scientific edifices characterized by moderation, adherence to balance, disseminating the teachings of the sound religion, and educating people about their religion and enlightening them with it, represented in faculties of Sharia and Islamic Theology and Studies, which are considered the safety valve against extremism or deviation, and intellectual beacons that nourish society with correct thought and protect it from the infiltration of foreign ideas, and orient its conduct according to the teachings of the Prophet.
This is what the Department of Sharia at the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Theology in Najran University aspires to, according to what it has outlined for itself in accordance with the general educational policies of this blessed country, to be comprehensive of the legal curricula that provide the student with integrated religious knowledge and meet the urgent needs of society by qualifying distinguished scientific cadres in understanding religion, enlightening people with the principles of their Sharia, its worships, transactions, marriage, boundaries, and judicial matters.
The Department of Sharia was established alongside the establishment of the Faculty in 1430H based on the Exalted Approval number (4017) dated 7/5/1430H.
The Department offers the Bachelor’s program in Sharia, as well as the Master’s program in Jurisprudence specialization.
It participates in teaching students and female students in affiliation studies in the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, and it also participates in teaching curricula of Islamic Culture for male and female university students.
Preparing graduates who are qualified in Islamic Sciences with skills, research capabilities that compete in the job market, and contribute to serving society through providing supportive scientific environments.
1- Providing the student with Islamic knowledge from its original sources. 2- Preparing specialists in jurisprudence and its fundamentals. 3- Following up on technological applications related to Islamic sciences. 4- Comprehending concepts of correct Islamic thought and its values.
