### Permanent Committee for Ethics in Scientific Research

The fundamental principles upon which laws and customs are based, according to the rules in effect and that professional specialized categories adhere to, are constructive rules for regulating behavior, aiming to define actions, relationships, and policies considered right or wrong. Ethical standards derive from two sources: heavenly religions, where the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, “I was sent only to complete virtuous morals,” and the prevailing culture in society and what others do. Consequently, universities seek to establish principles and ethics of scientific publishing among their staff, as failing to consider ethical research practices in the publication and production of research is one of the most damaging things to a university's reputation and standing. The Permanent Committee for Research Ethics at Najran University was established due to the necessity of consolidating the concept and importance of research ethics among its members. Producing and publishing scientific research without considering ethical publishing practices poses a risk to the researcher’s and university’s reputation. The committee was also registered as a local committee by the National Committee for Biomedical Ethics at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology under number (HAPO-11-N-102) and operates under the supervision of the University's Agency for Graduate Studies and Research, focusing on studying the researcher’s proposed methodology and scientific experiments intended to be applied from an ethical research perspective, safeguarding the dignity of living beings (human – animal – plant) and the rights of both the researcher and the study sample. To obtain committee approval, the following procedure must be followed: - It is necessary to protect the privacy of the research subject and maintain the confidentiality of all information. - Complete the appropriate application form according to the type of research submitted, as per the available forms in the Forms section. - Attach the complete research proposal, which includes the proposed title, research steps, method, mechanism, expected results, and scientific references, attach questionnaires or letters of consent for the research sample if any other supporting documents. - Attach the researcher’s curriculum vitae and all participating researchers, updated, dated, and signed. - It is necessary to submit the request for ethical approval before starting the study. - When collecting data or samples from people or conducting personal interviews, attach the informed consent; (Consent After Enlightenment) and attach the questionnaire that specifies the questions to be asked of the study sample. - The study sample should indicate: gender, age, region, country, etc.
